The Harbour of Ephesos. 에베소(Ephesus) 본문
The Harbour of Ephesos. 에베소(Ephesus). 터키(Turkey)
As a transhipment point for goods & wares, the harbour contributed significantly to the prosperity of the city. The harbour bay was first artificially enclosed during the rule of the Pergament King Attalos II (159-138 B.C.); its appearance, still visible in the landscape today, dates back to building activities of the early Roman imperial period. Around the harbour bay lay warehouses, & three monumental gates led from the harbour into the city. After the 3rd century A.D., the harbour was connected to the sea by means of a canal, which was bordered on both sides by tombs.
