구엘공원은 처음 만들어질 당시에는 공원의 목적이 아닌 주거지를 만들기 위해서였다. 그러다가 자금부족으로 인해 완성이 되지 못했고 이 후 가우디의 후원자였던 구엘이 재개발을 요청한 것에서 시작되어 만들어진 공원이다 . 가우디는 경사가 심한 언덕지역인 이곳에 구불구불한 커브 길을 만들고 주변의 자연을 최대한 살리면서 다리, 수로 등의 토목공사를 진행하였다 . 뿐만 아니라 자연 친화적인 건축을 지향했던 가우디는 각종 나무들과 꽃들을 심어서 건축과정에서 생긴 자연 훼손을 최대한 줄이려고 노력했다. 공원에서는 지중해가 내려다보이며 화려한 색깔의 타일과 조경으로 인하여 신비로움마저 느낄 수 있도록 만들어졌다. 독특한 공원 정문을 들어서면 돌계단과 변형된 도리아식 광장이 나오며, 델포이에 있는 그리스 극장의 이름을 차용한 신전도 위치하고 있다. 광장과 도리아식 기둥에는 하수관을 설치하여 빗물을 모아서 물탱크에 모았다가 용의 조각상이 있는 분수에서 내뿜도록 되어있으며 1984년에는 유네스코 세계문화유산으로 지정되었다 .

 

Park Güell

Park Güell occupies 15 hectares of land in a privileged area of the city. It stnads in an area where the rural estate Can Muntaner de Dalt stood, which was bought by Eusebi Güell in 1899 with the aim of converting it into a citygarden, following the most advanced urban tendencies in Europe at the time. Antoni Gaudí, a good friend of Güell, was entrusted with building this estate, designed for the upper classes. He worked there from 1900 to 1914, when work was stopped due to the commercial failure of the project. The Barcelona City Council acquired the land in 1918 and tranformed it into a public park in 1923. It has been declared a stie of World Heritage by the UNESCO.

Gaudí

Antoni Gaudí (1852-1926) 

Antoni Gaudí lived in this house from 1906 to 1926. This house was built by Francesc Berenguer in 1904 and contains original works by Gaudí and by several of his closest collaborators. In 1969 it was declared a historical artistic Monument of national interest.

The Casa-Museu Gaudí was founded in 1963 by the "Amics de Gaudí".

 

Visiting hours (Every day, including holidays.

January, February, March, October,November and December       From 10 to 18 hours

Apri, May, June, July, August and September                            From 10 to 20 hours

 

Closed : In the afternoon 25th, 26th December and 6th January from 14 hours

            1st january is closed all the day.

This pathway surrounds the Placa de la Natura and runs between a line of palm trees on the south side, and a contention wall of rough masonry, to the north. It is lined with stone blocks 60cm in diameter.
