소금광산의 하이라이트 "킹가 성당"은 700여 년의 역사를 가진 세계에서 유일하게 중세시대부터 현재까지도 작업을 계속하고 있는 광산이다.

항상 위험한 작업 환경에서 일하던 광부들은 광산 내부에 미사를 드릴 수 있는 공간을 마련하기 위해 심혈을 기울이게 되었고, 그리하여 장엄한 킹카 성당이 건축되었다.

80년 동안 3명의 광부에 의해 축조되었으며, 소금광산을 발견하게 한 소금광산의 수호 성인 킹가 공주의 이름을 붙였다.

모든 것은 소금으로 만들어졌는데 특히 불이 켜진 5개의 샹들리에는 보는 이의 시선을 압도하기에 충분하다.

벽에는 최후의 만찬을 모사해 놓은 작품도 있다.

광산은 일년 내내 14도의 온도를 유지한다.

가장 깊은 곳은 327m이고 총 길이는 300km에 이른다.

to visit the one and only in Europe

underground Pilgrimage Route

During the trip along the route pilgrims will be able to visit the excavated

rock salt chambers, chapels and places of worship in the Wieliczka mine as

well as parts of the expositin displayed in the Krakow Salt Works Museum.

There is also a possibility of organizing Holy Mass in the Chapel

of Saint John which is located 135 metres underground.

The route of the Pilgrimage Route requires earlier booking.
