Huangjiadeng Group 黄家磴组

"Huangjiadeng Group" named from the Huangjiadeno village, Maanshan Town. Changyan County, Hubei Province was formed at 374.5 Ma. It belong to shore - shallow marine clastic deposits. Rocks of the Huangjiadeng Group consist of gray green, yellow-gray sandstones and siltstones. The bottom is characterized by sandy shales and sandstones containing of iron differentiated with the underlying layer. The group contains some fossil plants and brachiopods. This group of sandstone with iron plays an important role on shaping the peak forest landform by reducing the effect of weathering and water erosion, and is the surface of the sandstone platform.
