Inca
The land was the main source of richness, which was not dependant on possession but on the capacity to make it productive by working on it. This compelled the development of a technology that was accrued through several millenia; not only in the Andes but also in the coastal valleys and in la "floresta". The success of the Incas consisted of creating and managing the functioning of a complex articulated society, amidst some of most, varied and complex ecological realities that ever existed.
Pachakuti
Pachakuti was a prominent leader, a warrior and an outstanding militar man. He took control of the Empire when his father Wiracocha and his brother Urco surrendered to the Chancas. Pachakuti defeated the Chancas, asserted the Inca victory, and transformed the Inca State into a powerful Empire.
He began the most important economic, political and social reorganization in the pre-Columbian world. It is during this time that the Tawantinsuyu began its period of expansion. They later dominated almost all of the Andean territories.
Quipus
Bedsides strengthening the imperial character that consolidated its ideology and power, the Inca showed generosity towards the conquered groups. He extened the estrategies and relationships with them, thas facilitating the exchange of poducts that were used for the maintenance of the Panacas in Cusco and other local royalties. There were lands for the gods, for the Incas (later inherited by Panacas and descedants) for the minor huacas and other local groups. Such a complex economy allowed the creation of a complex administrative and control system of productivity and of the population. The Quipus and their interpreters-Quipucamayocs were knowledgeable of the statistics and accounting information in all regions of the Tawantinsuyu, which in this way effectively controlled and organized.
