Built by Vauban and Garangeau, the Fort National stands as a fierce battle ship forever moored

off Saint Malo. Its granite stones brave the sea since 1689 when they were pulled off the

chausey Islands' soil. At the beginning of the niniteenth century a second surrounding wall

completed the fortress adding a final touch to the construction. When entering into this pure

Vauban style building enjoy the magnificent scenery with its unique breathtaking view of saint

malo before taking on a guided visit. An english speaking guide will lead you to the draw bridge,

the water thanks, the goal, the powder magazine taking you on a cruise with Surcouf or on a

literary walk with Chateaubriand. He will also tell you all about the epic story of the 1693 naval
