"It housed the guillotine"

The construction of this bastion, named in honour of King Louis XIV began, in 1714 during the second expansion of the city and was completed in 1721 during the third increase of Saint-Malo.

With the Fort of Le Naye situated opposite, it defended the access to harbour.
