This pretty little 16th-century half-timbered house is the example of medieval housing in the city.

A few sculptures can still be seen if you keep your eyes open.

The gate de la Cadène (from Latin “cadena”, chain), the only inner gate of the town, may have

been used to socially separate the population of the upper town (religious) from the lower town

(non-religious) thanks to a chain, even though no visible trace can be seen on the building

today.

From a historical point of view, its name could come from one of its owners,

Guillaume Renaud de la Cadène.
