The Merchants Arch Building

The Merchants Arch premises were initally built as a guild in 1821 for the merchant tailors.

The purpose of the guild was to make provisions for groups of artisons to associate together

 for mutual protection and to set standards for work. The original merchants hall was located in

 the heart of the medieval city but it was decided to consturct a new building due to

economic and social decline.

From 1908 it was used as a factory as the poplin and shirt maker and remained on till 1980.

The use of the premises has changed many times since 1980 but in 2010 it was turned into

 The Merchants Arch Bar + Restaurant.

The building still boasts many of its original features which includes its magnificent cantilvered

 granite winding staircase, high ceilings and original beams and elegant georgian sash windows

 overlooking Dublins famous Ha'penny Bridge + Quay. Today it offers a rich fare of drinks,

and food along with some of the best Live music on offer inour Famous city.

The Merchants Arch is widely  known as the entrance to Irelands Cultural Quater.
