Main cathedral for the city, as well as the St. Leodegar and St. Maurice religious center.

A Benedictine monastery was founded here in the 8th century.

 

In 1633, a fire destroyed the church; it was rebuilt in 1645. It is the most important Renaissance church in Switzerland. Especially noteworthy are the façade, Mary's alter (with a relief panel dating from 1500), and the souls' altar.

New illumination Hof

Im Rahmen des Plan Lumiere wird bis Ende 2016 due Fassaden-anstrhlung der Hofkirche erneuert. Eingesetzt werden 11 Projektoren, welche auf dem umliegenden Graberhallendach der Hofkirche montiert werden. Fur die Montage muss das Dach eingerustet, geoffnet und verstarkt werden. Weil sich das Graberhallendach in einem schlechten baulichen Zustand befindet, nutzt die Stadt diese Gelegenheit um einen Teil des Graberhallendaches zu sanieren. Zeitgleich saniert die katholische Kirchengemeinde die Fassade des benachbarten Pfarrhauses.

 

New illumination Hof Church - Advantages:

- additional spotlighting of the north facade

- an integrated mask will ensure the sole illumination of the Hof Church
