Sinaia Casino

After the devastating fire that wiped out Sinaia Hotel and "Riegler' Casino, The Board of Civil Hosipitals founded the Sinaia Society which had as main purpose the building of a luxury hotel, a sports hall and a new Casino. The Casino was built after the architectural project of Petre Antonescu and was opened in 1913, replacing Ghica Villa that has been demolished. The first stockholder of the Casino was Baron of Marcay, also a key shareholder at Monte Carlo Casino. That is why it has been said that the Casino would be the architectural copy of the Monte Carlo Casino. The opening of the Casino was marked by an outstanding performance sustained by George Enescu himself.

On the presentation brochure it was written; "his performances and gala celebrations place Sinaia among the most famous Western resorts."
