The Central Park (Parcul central)

In 1880, along with the new distribution of the plots of land in the resort planning area, the streets trace and the building of new "health houses", the Board of Civil Hospitals wanted to make a public park and, for doing that, they hired the Belgian landscape gardener Elder. The park was designed in 1881 on Dimitrie Ghica's property, and was travelled across by two streets: the street towards Monastery and the other one towards Bucharest-Predeal road. A guidebook of the park dated 1903 relates: "The park is the attraction of the resort. It is full of roses and flowers that change two times in the summer; it has pearly white alleys, two fountains and a music pavilion, where the orchestra plays season by season. It is an open space from where everyone can admire the mountains, the buildings around and the Monastery."
