Welcome to Montserrat's Sanctuary

You are in a religious site & a public space. We request you to behave & dress properly. Remember to keep an eye on your property at all times.

 

In the Basilica & way to the Virgin's Chapel :

- You are allowed to take photos in the Basilica as long as there is no religious service on & always without flash

 

- Please avoid taking photos while accessing the Virgin's Throne, since it hinders the pace of the line & discomforts the congregation.

 

- During religious ceremonies, please do not enter the Basilica if you are not willing to attend them. Wait for the end of the mass

 

- The access to the Virgin's Throne remains closed during mass, to provide an atmosphere of silence in which the congregation feels comfortable for prayer.

 

The Crypt, the Chapel of the Holy Sacrament & the Virgin's Chapel :

They are places of prayer. Please do not go in if it is not to devote yourselves to a few minutes of prayer & meditation.

 

Don't forget to visit the Museum of Montserrat & the Audiovisual Room.

몬세라트[MONTSERRAT]
바르셀로나 북서쪽 약 60km, 예전부터 카탈루냐의 성지로 여겨졌던 몬세라트가 있다. 몬세라트란 톱니산이라는 뜻으로 한가로운 전원 풍경 속에 회색 바위산이 주위를 감싸 듯이 웅장하게 솟아 있는 모습은 보는 사람을 압도한다. 이 모습은 예술가들에게도 많은 영향을 주었는데 스페인이 사랑하는 건축가 가우디도 몬세라트를 보고 큰 영감을 받았다고 한다. 대성당 안에 있는 검은 마리아상과 에스콜라니아(Escolania)라고 불리는 소년 합창단이 유명하다.
