Jaguars Compound

The great felines are at the center of the designs embodied in the bottom of the exterior walls, the porches or in the corridors through which you access the various rooms around the courtyard.

 

The jaguars are seen touching snails or they are dipicted being supported by two human hands. Some of the felines have the body crossed by lines that suggest a network and all of them wear a long feathered headdress and headband, which gives them an aspect of greatness.

 

The designs include shells, starfish and snails, as well as some elements related to Tlaloc, god of storms, we can also see raindrops and spiral-shaped floral ornaments, emerging from the snail, which is used as a wind instrument.
