This wall is the elegant remain of an impressive Dominican convent erected in the 13th century

that included a church, a cloister, a chapter room and a bell tower.

It was unwillingly destroyed hardly a century later, at the beginning of the Hundred Years War due

to its proximity with the fortified wall. Captured by the enemy, it could have been a pressure

point on the city. The Dominicans then found a better refuge within the city walls.
