Welcome to Christ Church Meadow

The conditions of entry below set out a few

rules which are made for the good of all.

No bicycles permitted.

Trespassing vehicles will be wheel clamped.

Please: note the closing time posted

and

observe the Country Code.

Residents of Oxford and other members of the public enter Christ Church Meadow only with the permission of the Governing Body of Christ Church, Oxford and not by right, and only at such times as the Governing Body may in its absolute discretion allow. The presence of residents of Oxford and other members of the public at any other time constitutes a trespass. The Meadow will be closed on Christmas Day.

All persons entering the Meadow do so entirely at their own risk and, to the extent allowed by law, Christ Church accepts no liability for any injury, damage or loss sustained by such persons. Images are being recorded by CCTV for the purpose of crime prevention and public safety. Please contact Oxford 276151 for further information about the scheme, which is controlled by Christ Church.

The Meadow Keepers are hereby instructed:

● to prevent nuisance and indecent, rude or disorderly conduct of every description;

● to allow no bicyles, handcarts, wheelbarrows; no hawkers or persons carrying parcels or bundles so as to obstruct the walks;

● to wheel clamp trespassing vehicles, which will only be released on the payment of a release fee;

● to prevent the flying of kites, throwing stones, throwing balls, bowling hoops, shooting arrows, firing guns or pistols, or playing games attended with danger or inconvenience to passers-by; also fishing in the waters, catching birds, bird-nesting or cycling;

● to prevent all persons entering fenced-off land; also cutting names on, breaking or injuring the seats, shrubs, plants, trees or turf;

● to prevent the fastening of boats or rafts to the iron palisading or river-wall, and to prevent encroachments of every kind by the river-side; and

● to ensure that any dog brought on to the Meadow is kept under close control by its owner and that it does not worry or interfere with any animals grazing on the land.

Subject to the foregoing residents of Oxford and other members of the public may indulge in recreations which do not cause damage to the land, environment or any property on the Meadow and which do not cause a nuisance to members of Christ Church or other users of the Meadow but the Meadow Keepers may at any time stop the continuation of any recreations conducted on the Meadow.

By order of the Governing Body of Christ Church.
