에든버러 성에서 홀리루드 궁전에 이르는 1마일 가량의 거리로써, 이전에는 왕가 전용 도로로써 평민들은 갈 수 없는 곳이였다. 고풍스러운 중세 건물과 상점, 카페, 선문가게 등이 밀집되어 있다. 왕관모양의 탑이 있는 성 자일스 성당은 칼뱅파의 존 녹스가 종교개혁을 부르짖던 곳이기도 하다. 홀리루드 궁전으로 가는 쪽에 어린이 박물관이있다. 이 박물관은 어린이를 위한 각종 장난감이 전시되어있다. 거리 주변으로 레스토랑, 기념품점 등 다양한 상점들이 있어 관광객들의 필수 코스가 되었다.
