Plovdiv Municipality

The building was constructed in the period 1912-1914 to satisfy the needs of the District Standing Committee at the time, thus gaining its original name Chamber of District. The designer of the building was chosen by competition well-known metropolitan design architect - Nicola Neshov.

 He was born in 1894 in Vidin and graduated from the King's Technical University in Stuttgart, Germany. Neshov has left a huge architectural heritage not only in his home city, but all around the country, covering consecutively all the influences of the European neo-styles-from neo-baroque to secession.

From the end of the twenties up to the fifties of XX century the building was used as Regional / Police / Direction. In 1959 administrative reform was established and Plovdiv was given the status of province. Thus, at the beginning fo the sixties, the building became the site of Municipality of Plovdiv, with its departments and Mayor.

 Nowadays, the building is still preserved in its original appearance - with the monumental outline and ornaments featured on the front facade, beautiful tower on the rooftop. Central location on the second floor is designated for the conference hall, which is characterized on the outside with big oval-shaped windows and neat balcony. Cainets are situated all along the both sides of the spacious corridors.

 The building is a cultural monument, part of the architectural ensemble of the Main Street Knyaz Alexander I in Plovdiv.
