Salile de Arme(The Armoury Halls) - The Small Armoury Hall
Built between 1903-1908 in German Neo-Renaissance style, they are displaying the royal collection of European weapons (15th-19th c.), mostly German, but also Spanishm, French, Italian and Oriental. one can notice the steel armors(15th-16th c.) and a Maximillian tournament harness unique in Romania(16th c.). on the decorative fireplace (the castle was provided with central heating in 1883) is to be noticed a 16th c. German executioner sword. The oritental weapons are displayed in The Small Armoury Hall; they are manufactured in African, Turkish, Perisan, Indian and Japanese workshops. The large glass-case exhibits the most valuable pieces of the collection: a Turkish sword covered with shark skin, the sword of Gabriel Bathory, Prince of Transylvania, received by King Michael of Romania in 1932 and a Damascus steel rifle with inlaid mother-of-pearl made in London workshop (18th c.).
This exquisite sword belonging to Gabriel Bathory, Prince of Transylvania (1608-1613), is made of Damask (steel), embellished with silver, pearls and rubies. The blade bears this inscription:
"Gabriel Bathory Princeps Transilvania Partium Regni Hungar Domino Et Sine Dommes 1609"
